"Placing second in the CoN is great for Portugal, and the objective of improving from last season has been achieved. That does not mean we're happy! We would rather win... maybe next season."
said Vasco Assis, the most used rider at CoN.
Conrado Fraga was also requested to give a few words:
"I'm feeling good, today I got a second place, already had a victory in my pocket, and I'm on top of the individual WT standings... that's just how good I am!
Can't understand why some alberta 1 fans are criticizing me for lack of results, I can and I get them. If they shut up for a while maybe I can focus and win races, right?"
The NT manager smiled to the press and commented:
"Its a pleasure to be NT manager, specially with this group of riders. They have been great and I have to thank them for getting Portugal a 2nd place at the CoN, and the 1st place in the WT standings, both for team and individual.
Being CoN vice-champion is an impressive achievement after the first race, CoN Washington City TT. That race went as bad as it could... Portugal had high hopes on Rogério Aleixo, but unluckily he suffered some food poisoning a couple hours before the race... Can't imagine how he still managed to finish 32nd in the race. Also Élvio Aguiar got injured there... a huge loss for us at the CoN... As it was not enough, Belgium placed 3 riders at the top 9 in that race, collecting 400 points and basically winning the CoN right at the start.
At the end we got the 2nd place only 30 points behind Belgium, that says everything!"
